Remembering Bob Wood

The Muhlenberg College Athletics family lost a great friend when Bob Wood passed away over the weekend.

“Bob Wood’s dedication to his community extended beyond Allentown. His personal commitment to bettering people’s lives has been felt throughout the Lehigh Valley,” said Director of Athletics Sam Beidleman.

“Muhlenberg was the first food service client of what later became M.W. Wood Company.  The College has held a special place in the heart of its founder, Scotty Wood, as well as his son and successor. Bob loved this place and the interaction it provided with students, faculty and staff. From his role as a member of the Board of Trustees to his efforts in support of a basketball tournament in his father’s memory, Bob was a shining example to all of a life of leadership and service.”

Bob had immeasurable passion for the Scotty Wood Tournament and took great pleasure in working with the students of the marketing management class, which promotes the tournament on campus. Below are pictures of Bob with the marketing management class at the 2006 Scotty Wood Tourmament breakfast and with his wife Ilene at the 2006 breakfast.
